Beginner Hip-Hop Taster Dance Class
Join dance artist Sukan at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre for a taster class exploring the foundations of hip-hop dance, its grooves and techniques!
Join us if you’re down for a boogie! No prior dance experience needed. Please wear comfortable clothing to move in.
Class agenda
- Warm-up
- Hip-hop dance Eeements – Rock and Bounce
- Hip-Hop foundation steps – Shamrock, ALF and Smurf (adjustable depending on participants)
- Freestyle exercise – nine pointer, footwork and Isolation
- Cypher (if folks are comfortable enough doing!)
- Cool down
Folks will be encouraged throughout the class to take water breaks and adjust or stop if necessary.
About the facilitator
Sukan is a transmac dance artist based in London. Their work is built on their contemporary and hip-hop training, between Portugal and the UK.
With plenty of experience in performance and dance production with Balleteatro, The Link Up and EDIFICE Dance Theatre, he is now looking to bring accessible, fun and inclusive hip-hop dance classes to the queer community and creating opportunities for transgender folks within dance/movement art.

To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 and/or mpox symptoms including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.
You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
