SUMMARY:Bi The Way (Over 50s)
DESCRIPTION:Our monthly 50+ social meetup for bisexual and pansexual folks at an intersectional\, intergenerational and safer LGBTQ+ haven.\n\n\nBi the Way is a dynamic monthly social group designed for bisexual and pansexual individuals to come together and connect. \nOur gatherings offer a warm and supportive environment where you can meet new friends\, share your experiences\, and celebrate your identity. The group gathers every fourth Monday to host a variety of activities\, discussions\, and community events to foster a sense of belonging and fun. \nWhether you’re seeking meaningful conversations or just a good time with like-minded people\, Bi the Way is the perfect place for you. \nAbout the facilitators: \nSophie (she/her) lives in north London with her partner\, in a flat filled with houseplants and books. Sophie has been working in policy and politics for almost ten years. Outside of work she enjoys gardening\, hiking\, going to the gym\, and cooking while singing along (off-key)to music from the 60s and 70s. \nMackenzie (she/her) lives in south London. She’s a graduate student working towards her PhD in Computer Science. Outside of her studies\, she loves to run\, swim\, walk neighborhood dogs\, cheer on Arsenal\, listen to podcasts\, read books\, and eat her way around the city. \nTiarna (she/her) lives in east London. She’s a PhD candidate working in biomedical engineering. She enjoys baking\, watching films\, listening to podcasts\, and supporting Watford FC (not always enjoyable watching!). \n \nAccessibility: \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid and mpox safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre: \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 and/or mpox symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough\, chills and unusual spots\, scabs or ulcers. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid and mpox please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the CentreWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

SUMMARY:Winter Wellbeing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:8-week programme designed to support people to develop new skills and strengthen existing strategies to maintain wellbeing over winter.\n\n\nWe know that the winter months can have an impact on people’s wellbeing for multiple reasons\, and that it can be a tricky time for many people. Given that this can be an isolating experience\, we feel that it may be useful to meet as a group to share and develop skills and strategies to better support ourselves and each other through this time. \nAshley and Navya will facilitate an 8-week workshop grounded in ideas and techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy practices. These sessions will focus primarily on developing awareness and understanding of emotional experiences\, as well as participating in experiential exercises to develop soothing skills. \nIt is essential that participants commit to the 8-week programme to get the most out of the workshops\, as there will be a gradual development of ideas and skills over time. \nConsistent attendance is also important for building group safeness and relational trust. This is not intended to be a therapy group: rather than in-depth exploration of personal experiences\, these sessions will focus on skills development and coping strategies. \nIt is understandable that speaking about wellbeing may prompt participants to consider further support to address any difficulties. In such instances\, Ashley and Navya are able to signpost to relevant services. \nAbout the facilitators \nDr Ashley Peart (he/him) is a Black queer man and Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of experience in the NHS\, education and voluntary sectors. He is passionate about increasing access to mental health services and the clinical psychology profession\, and supporting young people and adult’s mental health through a holistic\, creative\, and strengths-based approach. \nDr Navya Anand (she/her) is queer Indian cisgendered woman and Clinical Psychologist\, working in Children’s Social Care\, Academic\, and Private Practice settings. \n She hopes to incorporate compassion-based practices across different levels of service provision\, and to embody values of social justice in her work. \nAccessibility \nWe hope to make this group accessible to a wider range of people in the community\, and as such will be providing the workshops online in the evenings on Mondays. Closed captions will be available\, and we welcome conversations about how to ensure the space is accessible to all participants. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache\, fever\, sore throat and consistent cough. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.
