SUMMARY:Film and Workshop: Country Dancing in the LGBTQ+ Community
DESCRIPTION:A film and workshop about country dancing in the LGBTQ+ community.\n\n\n\nCountry dancing in the queer community is making a big comeback\, but for some of us it has been around for more than 30 years! \nThis workshop will start with a film produced at the last Sundance Stompede in 2023 (its 27th and final year). \nThere will be a short group discussion about the film\, alongside a chat about the country dancing community and why it was so important in 1996 to bring people together in San Francisco. \nThis will be followed by a dance workshop – learning some of the dances that have been around the scene! It may include some partner work for those that are comfortable doing so. \nThe workshop is aimed at those interested in dance and its place in the LGBTQ+ community. \nAbout the facilitator \nPeter Flockhart (he/him) has been teaching line dancing for 32 years and now runs The Cactus Club\, London’s longest-running LGBTQIA line dance club. \nAccessibility \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough and chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable.
