SUMMARY:Intimacy Embedded in Clay
DESCRIPTION:A pottery workshop where you’ll connect with your sexuality and embed your sexual energy into clay.\n\n\nA pottery workshop during which you will connect with your body and embed your sexual energy into clay. \nThrough facilitated exercises with clay and reflective prompts you will be gently guided to explore the meaning you give to intimacy*. During the workshop you will sculpt a tangible representation of your sexual energy which you can draw from in the future. This can be the energy you are already familiar with or one you want to welcome into your body and relationships. \n*Intimacy will be used as an umbrella term for topics such as sex\, sexuality\, touch\, relationship to self and your body\, relationships with others and anything in between. \nWhat to expect \nThe workshop will start with an introduction of the topic\, acknowledgements of trauma\, and creating a verbal community agreement. \nYou will be invited to set intentions for this workshop and to check in with yourself and your body. \nWe will then go into facilitated exercises that will help you access your sexuality and to start connecting with the clay. There will be an option to share any reflections that emerged from these exercises to dissolve any shame\, or share in the joy of playing with clay. \nWe will then have 40 minutes of self paced pottery making\, where you can let your energy out and create a representation of your sexuality. \nTo wrap up the workshop\, we will come back together to reflect on our experience\, share what we created and the meaning the sculpture holds. We will end with a grounding breathing exercise. \nAt the end of the workshop\, the facilitator will give out an aftercare leaflet for you to take home with you to land softly back into reality. \nAt the core of the workshop is self-consent and honouring your personal process. \nYou will be encouraged to frequently check in with yourself\, set intentions and follow your body’s cues. The facilitator will also name and normalise any feelings that might come up in the process to help you feel safe to explore them. \nIn the previous workshop people took breaks\, adapted the exercises to their interests and some left early. \nAn aftercare corner will be set up on the sofas\, if at any point you get overwhelmed or need a comfort break. \nAbout the facilitator \nAzbel is a queer BACP registered psychotherapist supporting people to explore topics like gender identity\, sexuality\, neurodiversity and burnout. They are also a pottery enthusiast with personal experience of working with clay to create meaningful sculptures. \nAzbel is interested in how clay can be used as a tool for emotional exploration of one’s identity and sexuality\, which is how this workshop came into being. \nAccessibility at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough or chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable.
