SUMMARY:Dope Black Queers: The Forum
DESCRIPTION:Dope Black Queers is an space for and by the Black LGBTQIA+ community\, to provide grounding\, connection\, and to feel seen & heard. \nThe Forum follows a Town Hall Meeting format\, less like a panel\, but more of an open floor discussion. \nThis is an event where we can really talk about the things that matter to us\, to raise questions and find answers both for ourselves and for others. \nOur specific life experiences give each of us different perspectives\, and that is what we want everyone to come and share\, because it is in the specifics that we can relate and build community. \nWhilst participation is encouraged\, no one has to share if they don’t want to. \nBut the more interaction\, the more there is to learn. \nCome\, meet new people\, build a community\, and share your perspective. This month’s topic will be looking at Books and Literature. What are the stories that made you feel? Who is a writer that forces you to think? Have you felt represented by the words on a page? Which Black queer authors can you recommend? \nThis event is exclusively for the Black LGBTQIA+ community! (Allies are welcome to donate to help continue our work.) \nComplimentary cakes provided. Affordable teas and coffees are available for purchase on-site. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre: \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough and chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. SUMMARY:Mask Off: Misunderstood\, Misdiagnosed and Missed – A Zine Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A zine workshop for Black and neurodiverse women and non-binary people.\n\n\nJoin the Black & Neurodiverse crew on a fun zine-making activity all afternoon long during our special Queer Black Women and Non-Binary day in light of the UK Black History Month. \nThe collective is currently developing its first web zine\, highlighting experiences of Black and neurodiverse folks in any form they wish. \nMaterials will be provided or you can also bring your own! \nAbout the facilitator: \nNdidi-Amaka Moemeke (she/they) is the founder of Black and Neurodiverse\, an initiative dedicated to creating safe\, inclusive spaces for Black and brown neurodivergent individuals. \nDiagnosed with ADHD in January 2023 after 27 years of living undiagnosed\, Ndidi-Amaka was motivated to start this community after discovering the term “neurodivergent” for the first time last year\, experiencing challenges in obtaining an ADHD referral through the NHS. \nUnderstanding that many Black and brown people face similar challenges\, Ndidi-Amaka aims to foster environments that offer support and connection beyond the confines of home. \nAccessibility: \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nIf you have any access requirements for this event\, get in touch with us at hello@londonlgbtqcentre.org. \nCovid and mpox safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre: \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling unwell including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough\, chills and unusual spots\, scabs or ulcers. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid-19 and mpox please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre: \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.
