We teach participants simple\, effective strategies for using physical force to keep themselves safe. \nWe believe that queer and trans people already have a wide range of self-defence skills to draw upon\, and we encourage participants to collaborate with trainers in sharing these skills\, enabling them to feel more confident and empowered when they use them. \nAbout Queer Minds \nQueer Minds is a peer support group for LGBTQIA+ people (aged 18+) who live\, work or play in Lambeth and Southwark. This group is by us\, for us and is for those who are looking to connect with others and get support for their mental health. If you have any access needs\, health conditions or injuries\, please let us know on the registration form and/or let the facilitators know before the workshop starts. \nBender Defenders ethos \nBender Defenders take a holistic view of self-defence\, remembering that keeping people safe means more than avoiding danger in the moment – it means creating community systems to heal from the harm hate crime causes in the long term. \nWe approach self-defence from a compassionate\, trauma-informed and community-led perspective. SUMMARY:Sensuality Vision Board Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Helena and Imale in this sensuality workshop\, using vision board making as a gateway to explore and awaken erotic desires. \n\n\n\n\nMeet your erotic self in a completely different environment without the sexual performance or vulnerability of physical nakedness. \nThe erotic is a power(resource) that is deep inside all of us – this power has been corrupted and we’ve been disconnected from it. We don’t know how to recognise it nor how to harness its potency. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll be creating a ritualised\, non-judgemental\, explorative and creative space\, using vision boards to envision our erotic blueprints. We’ll be drawing from African\, Eastern\, Western traditions\, nature\, and your lived experiences. \nEasy-going space to chat\, get creative\, and explore. Together\, we’ll find a new way to feel truly alive. \nMaterials and refreshments will be available\, we only ask for you to bring yourselves and an openness to connect. \n\nThis event is for LGBTQ+ people over 18. \nAbout the facilitators \nHelena (she/they) from A Shade of Black\, a Creative Consultancy built to collaborate with visual artists and creatives as they navigate the art world\, they strive to enhance the creative’s journey. \nImale (they/them) from Nlovu\, a sensual wellness space rooted in embodiment\, self-discovery\, and emotional depth. \nNlovu supports individuals in exploring sensuality\, releasing shame\, and reconnecting with their innate power within a space that is both nurturing and expansive. \n\nAccessibility at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough or chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. SUMMARY:Queer Minds Movement Sessions: Complete Beginners Salsa
DESCRIPTION:Queer Minds hosts monthly movement sessions on the 3rd Monday of every month from 6-8pm at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre. We’re excited to be collaborating with Queer Salsa for our next three sessions – Complete Beginners Salsa! \nYou are welcome to sign up to one\, two\, or all three sessions: \n\nMonday 15 June 2026\nMonday 20 July 2026\nMonday 17 August 2026\n\nIn these sessions\, participants will learn the foundations of Salsa: \n\nThe basic rhythm and timing\nFootwork including the basic step\, side steps\, a turn\, and some styling to bring your own personality to the dance\nWe’ll then bring this into partnerwork\, explaining leading and following so everyone can try one role for the session\nWe’ll close each session with some Salsa songs so everyone can dance with each other and the teachers and put what they’ve learned into practice\n\nQueer Salsa places particular emphasis on building genuine connection between dance partners and on dancing consensually with another person\, which can be a really special experience for people who’ve never done partner dance before. Everyone will rotate partners throughout the class as we learn a short routine together. No dance partner is needed – people are very welcome to come alone and will likely meet many new people! \nPlease wear clothes you can comfortable move in and bring some water. If you have any access needs\, health conditions or injuries\, please let us know on the registration form and/or let the facilitators know before the workshop starts. \nAbout the facilitator  \nQueer Salsa is a queer-led collective that brings people together to share\, learn and enjoy Afro-Latin dance. For us\, queer joy on the dance floor means honouring Salsa as a living\, liberatory practice rooted in Afro-Latin resistance\, creativity and collective strength. We believe partner dance is a powerful way to build community by teaching us to listen and care for one another as we move together. \nImportant information about our free events/cancellations! 🌟🌟🌟 \n\nQueer Minds events are by and for LGBTQIA+ people (aged 18+)\nSpaces are limited\, so please only reserve a spot if you can definitely make it and cancel your ticket at least 48 hours ahead of time if you can no longer attend. Failing to show up without prior cancellation takes a spot from someone else – please be considerate of those on the waitlist who wish to join us!\n\nAccessibility at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough and chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable.
