SUMMARY:Vocal Freedom: Collective Voice Jam!
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to embody sound? To be heard not just as one\, but within a collective? \nJoin My Blood is My Voice this summer\, in a three-part\, trans-led vocal healing space; exploring the alchemy of fortifying the voice through sounding with sonic embodiment\, improvising\, sharing and learning songs\, and vocal jamming. \nWe invite you to explore your voice as a tool of expression\, release\, and connection. Sounding is a method of exploring what the body needs to release tension and expressing this authentically through the voice. It doesn’t always mean musical sounds; we are focused on finding frequencies and vibrations which feel instinctive to make when we listen deeply. \nWe will also learn some songs together and explore different tonalities of our voice – to safely explore the range we want to inhabit vocally outside of gender binaries. \nThis work is not about perfection\, performance\, or pitch. It’s about sounding from the body\, from instinct\, from the parts of us that need to speak\, especially when words fail. \nTogether\, we will: \n\nEngage in meditative work and deep listening\nExplore sounding and vocal improvisation\nLearn and share songs in communion\nUtilise the voice as a tool to release tension and discover our expressions\nMove gently to support vocal fluidity and embodiment\nReimagine the voice beyond binaries – and beyond fear\nExplore the potentialities within\n\nWho is it for? \nThese sessions are for anyone curious about their voice – no singing experience needed. This space is trans-led\, queer-centred\, and trauma-informed. All bodies and experiences are welcome. You can participate actively or just listen. Presence alone is powerful. \nCome as you are. Let your voice find you. Let us hold that voice together. \nEvery part of the experience is an invitation – never a demand. Our only ask\, is that attendees are mindful of who this space was created by and for – as we seek to cultivate the shared tenderness needed to be seen and held in vulnerability \nThis workshop will be held by tobi\, yuki and petals. \nAccessibility \nOur full accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling unwell including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough and chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid-19 please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

SUMMARY:Masc and Mellow
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Masc and Mellow – a gentle\, peer-led space at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre for trans masc and nonbinary people to connect\, rest\, and feel less alone. \nAre you seeking a calm and welcoming community where you can be yourself? Masc and Mellow offers a low-pressure environment to make friends\, share stories\, and participate in creative and activist projects together. \nWhether you’re neurodivergent\, queer\, or simply craving more friendships and connections within the community\, then this group is here to support you. \nThis meeting is the first of many\, and facilitator Sam is excited to build a more solid\, lasting community through Masc and Mellow. \nWe’ll gather for gentle check-ins\, crafts\, creative projects\, mindfulness walks\, hikes\, and discussions about activism and community care. Looking ahead\, we hope to explore more fun and meaningful activities like group protests\, zine-making workshops\, outdoor picnics\, movie nights\, trips away from the city\, and game sessions — all paced so everyone can enjoy. \nThe event wraps up around 5:30 PM\, but if you’re up for it\, we’ll head out for chill drinks nearby — no wild party vibes\, just easy company and good conversation. \nJoin us at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre in Blackfriars to find calm\, connection\, and community — and help us grow something special together. \nAbout the facilitator \nSam (he/him) is a trans writer\, editor\, and community creative from Edinburgh\, now based in London. \nHe’s been published over a dozen times across platforms like Eve and Little Living\, and has previously worked as Senior Editor at Wingless Dreams Publishing House. His work explores trans masculinity\, class\, and neurodivergence through poetry\, storytelling\, and zine-making. \nSam has also worked in youth advocacy and homelessness support\, with a focus on care-led\, accessible spaces. \nHe lives with ADHD\, dyslexia\, and dyspraxia\, which informs everything he does. Whether Sam’s behind a camera or holding space in a group\, he’s interested in gentleness\, visibility\, and real connection. \nAccessibility \nThis is an informal group with prompts for inspiration which Jay will provide both written and verbally. People are free to explore their ideas or be given instruction as required. It will be a quiet space where people can take breaks as required. \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here.
