SUMMARY:Beyond Yes and No: Consent as a Journey Toward Knowing Oneself
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we explore how consent intertwines with (self)-care\, boundaries\, and mutual respect.\n\n\nIn this workshop\, we explore how consent intertwines with (self)-care\, boundaries\, and mutual respect. \nYou will learn about the yes-to-no spectrum and the consent-iceberg and we’ll look at consent as a shared responsibility\, a practice of deep listening and choice\, not as something that requires enthusiasm. \nWe’ll talk about people-pleasing\, its roots in trauma and systems of oppression\, and how it pulls us away from sustainable\, consensual relationships. \nThrough exercises and reflections\, you’ll learn tools to cultivate connections based on trust\, honesty\, and mutual care. \nThe workshop will include: \n\nIntroduction (what brings you here\, names\, pronouns)\nTheoretical interactive part\nSmall and big group discussions\nWriting exercises\nGuided meditation and somatic grounding/movement exercises (movement exercises if the space and number of participants allow for it)\n\nEveryone is free to opt out of any exercises. People who don’t feel comfortable to talk are welcome to listen or write down questions on a paper and hand them to the facilitator in breaks so they can address the questions throughout the workshop. \nAbout the facilitator \nRon (they/them) is a queer\, trans and polyamorous person\, in love with nature and animals — their safe spaces. \nAfter growing up in Germany\, they lived in Switzerland and then in London\, where they studied queer\, transfeminist\, decolonial\, and Black critical theory. From that journey\, ConsentRebels was born — a project that transforms theory into practice and explores consent and boundaries through a somatic\, anti-capitalist\, queer\, and community-centred lens. \nRon facilitates workshops on consent\, people-pleasing\, and perfectionism\, and is currently training in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy\, with the dream of bringing new forms of care and embodied consent to communities and collectives. \nAccessibility \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid-19 safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough\, and chills. \nFor current information on Covid please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

SUMMARY:Queer Along the River: South London LGBTQ+ History and Drawing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Catherine Hahn in a history and drawing workshop on queer South London.\n\n\nJoin Dr Catherine Hahn in a history and drawing workshop on queer South London. \nYou will learn about LGBTQ+ South London history starting in the 17th century\, then use a variety of drawing methods and experiments to recall queer pasts. \nAbout this event \nThe workshop reclaims diverse\, working-class LGBTQ+ South East London history through local stories and drawing.
