DESCRIPTION:Grab a pritt-stick and join the Queer Diary team for an evening of nostalgia\, crafting & chance to create your own personal Queer Teenage History Zine! \n\n\n\nDesign the teen mag you wish you’d read\nCollage your fantasy prom-night\nCreate a fanzine for your first crush\nWrite a letter to your younger self\nDraw a coming-of-age cartoon\n\nOr simply sit and doodle with a friendly queer crowd\, to a throwback soundtrack. \nBring your pals\, your date\, or come alone to meet some new friendly faces. \nAll crafting materials are provided by us:  \nPaper + pritt stick + scissors + felt-tips + gel pens + pencils + stencils  🖍 \n+ a load of old teen mags to cut up & re-cycle into your own queer-tastic zine ✂️✂️ \nWe also provide instruction (how to fold a basic zine) and zine-spiration in the form of some zines we’ve enjoyed\, and some we’ve made before\, along with a collaborative playlist\, where you can add your own fave throwback tracks from your teenage years. \nIf you wanna use your own life as inspiration\, we invite you to bring something you’ve kept from your past: a favourite object\, a picture\, a song\, or treasured memory* to use as inspiration on turning them into a Queer-tastic Zine (this is not required – just if you want to!) \n🎟 All tickets to this event are Pay What You Can – booking is essential and spaces are limited\, if you can no longer make it\, please let us know in advance so we can free up a place for somebody else. \nThis event is brought to you by the team behind Queer Diary (the night where LGBTQIA+ adults read their teenage diaries on stage). The nearest stations are Blackfriars\, Waterloo\, London Bridge\, and Southwark tube.\nLGBTQ+ Community Centre has a quiet room with weighted blankets and sensory toys.\nLGBTQ+ Community Centre cafe serves non-alcoholic drinks only\, with Pay What You Can options available.\nThere is blue badge parking a few metres from the entrance.\nThe venue is step-free\, and entirely on the ground floor with a wide entrance and a lowered counter in the cafe. However\, the toilet is not wheelchair accessible. The Centre has an agreement with several nearby venues (less than 2 min away) that guests can use accessible toilets at Blackfriars Station\, Starbucks\, and the Founders Arms\, and staff can provide an escorting service for anyone using these.\nDogs are welcome.\nThe LGBTQ+ Community Centre is a shared community space. During our session there may be other visitors using the centre\, or other activities going on – you’ll find us by the Queer Diary signs & table of craft materials.\n\nFull information about access at the LGBTQ+ Community Centre is on their website\, and we recommend contacting the Centre directly if you have any specific questions about physical access to the building. \nCovid safety: \nEvent organisers are fully vaccinated and use lateral flow testing regularly. \nWe also welcome the wearing of masks. \nDo not attend this event if you have either Covid symptoms or a positive test result. \nInclusivity and community safety: \nPlease note this event is themed around memories of teenage years gone by\, and is aimed at adult audiences. \nThis is an-LGBTQIA+ centred space. DESCRIPTION:A space for LGBTQ+ freelancers\, students and work-from-homers\n\n\nJoin us for coffee\, a desk and queer business! \nEvery Wednesday the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre opens its space for freelancers\, students and anyone that work remotely. \nAt 1pm we’ll have a social lunch hour so we can have an arranged time to break for lunch and have a chat. It can be tricky to fit in a proper lunch break and we are hoping this will help. \nIf you don’t want to join\, that’s okay! It’ll just be an hour with slightly more chatting and background noise\, no pressure at all. On sunny days we’ll eat outside. \nThis coworking space is run in partnership with Business Queers\, a network of freelancers and small business operators. DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. You’ll never buy shop-bought pasta again! \nThe workshop includes: \n \n\nTwo hours of pasta-making class\nPasta tools and ingredients will be provided for your class\nSuitable for ages 13 and above\nQuestion time for 20 minutes\, here you can ask any question about cooking and pasta tips\n\n \nAllergen information \nAt this event\, guests will handle/be exposed to ingredients containing the following allergens: WHEAT\, EGG\, MILK\, BARLEY\, SULPHITES\, CELERY \nWhilst we take all reasonable precautions to prevent cross-contamination\, we cannot guarantee that any of our products at our events will be 100% free of allergens. \nAbout the facilitator \nYamina (she/her) is a baker and private chef living and working in London. \nGrowing up with little food\, her family always had to make something from nothing. This taught Yamina the value of food\, how not to waste food and how to use simple ingredients with maximum flavours to make delicious\, filling and nourishing meals. \nFor Yamina\, learning to cook hasn’t been the result of a fancy culinary school. She’s a self-taught baker and most of this has come through research\, travel\, seeing new cultures and foods\, all of which have inspired her to push myself further. \nIt has been a journey of trial and error\, as well as learning about herself and her culture and using those experiences to make my food taste better. \nYamina wants to inspire people to cook more and waste less. DESCRIPTION:A space for LGBTQ+ freelancers\, students and work-from-homers\n\n\nJoin us for coffee\, a desk and queer business! \nEvery Wednesday the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre opens its space for freelancers\, students and anyone that work remotely. \nAt 1pm we’ll have a social lunch hour so we can have an arranged time to break for lunch and have a chat. It can be tricky to fit in a proper lunch break and we are hoping this will help. \nIf you don’t want to join\, that’s okay! It’ll just be an hour with slightly more chatting and background noise\, no pressure at all. With facilitated discussions and different topics and activities each month.  \nAttend this first get-together and help shape what we do in the coming months. \nAbout the facilitators \nBrixton Umbrella Circle is an independent\, peer led\, self-help group for older (50+) LGBTQ’s. This will be a monthly occurrence with regular breaks so there’s plenty of time to read the source material before coming along to an accessible\, safe discussion with fellow fats and fat allies. If you’re new to fat liberation\, curious about what it is or looking to see how it differs from body positivity\, this is the place for you. \nWe’ll be exploring a mix of non-fiction\, fiction\, poetry\, comic books and everything in between\, with supplementary material from fat academics\, essayists\, TikTokkers\, podcasters and more. \nFor this month’s Book Club we’re looking at Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fatphobia by Sabrina Strings. \nGrab your copy here. \nWe are switching it back to non-fiction for April\, a great opportunity for us to build on our understanding of the ways race and fatness intersect. This insightful book will take us into the past for an eye-opening and in-depth observation on the history of anti-fatness\, anti-blackness and gender prejudice. \nThis is quite a dense text and expect this Book Club to be saturated with valuable and necessary discussion that we want to make sure we leave enough time for. So we’ve split it into two parts. We’ll be looking at Chapters 1-4 for this month\, and May’s Book Club will look at Chapters 5-9\, finishing the tome. \nFrom Goodreads: \n‘Sociologist Strings (sociology\, Univ. of California\, Irvine) explores the historical development of pro-thin\, anti-fat ideologies deployed in support of Western\, patriarchal white supremacy.
