DESCRIPTION:Join us for The Forum x BQC Groups – a special collaboration between Dope Black Queers and Black Queers Connect! We’re excited to co-host this month’s forum with Black Queers Connect on the topic of Mourning Tradition. Come\, meet new people\, build a community\, and share your perspective. \nWhether you feel it has been purposefully eradicated\, a consequence of not being practiced enough\, or even something that feels at odds with your identity. How do we reckon with that\, and in what ways can we make space for ourselves in those traditions? \nThis is an event where we can really talk about the things that matter to us\, to raise questions and find answers both for ourselves and for others. Our specific life experiences give each of us different perspectives\, and that is what we want everyone to come and share\, because it is in the specifics that we can relate and build community. Whilst participation is encouraged\, no one has to share if they don’t want to. But the more interaction\, the more there is to learn. \nEventh highlights: \n\nGames\, open discussions\, connection and grounding\nFacilitators: Quamina + Chloe (DBQ) & Nic Farmer (BQC)\nSafer Space Holder: Julie-Anne Ntege will be present to offer support throughout the event.\n\nThis event is exclusively for Black LGBTQIA+ folks. (Allies can support by donating.) \nAbout Dope Black Queers (DBQ): Dope Black Queers is a space created by and for the Black LGBTQIA+ community to foster grounding\, connection\, and visibility. The Forum follows a Town Hall-style format — less like a panel\, more like an open discussion where every voice matters. \nAbout Black Queers Connect (BQC): Black Queers Connect empowers Black LGBTQ+ adults in the UK by creating inclusive spaces for connection and support. DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. DESCRIPTION:A theatre group for marginalised people.\n\n\nWe meet every first Sunday of the month to explore different methods of performance. We usually start with some warm up games before then either devising some short scenes\, reading some scripts\, play with moving our bodies or whatever other creative activities take our fancy! \nWe are an informal group aimed at having fun and creating community and space for everyone to feel safe and be free to explore their selves through drama and performance. \nThe workshops are run by Beckah from the London Intersectional Arts Collective. They are trans/genderqueer and disabled and their aim is to make these workshops accessible for all. \nWe welcome everybody regardless of orientation\, gender\, age\, race\, ethnicity – all we require is an open mind\, a desire to try\, respect for pronouns and a wish to perform! Doesn’t matter if you are a newbie or pro\, just wear some comfy clothes and come along. \nAbout the organiser: \nBeckah (they/them) is a theatre maker/facilitator and genderqueer person. DESCRIPTION:A Drag King/Thing Life Drawing Workshop for artists to experience drag in a new way and drag artists to gain a new skill in life modelling.\n\n\nJoin us for an exciting life drawing workshop dedicated to providing a platform for Drag Kings/Things to model and offering artists a unique experience in capturing the essence of drag through art. \nOur inclusive sessions cater to all skill levels\, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned artist like the next David Hockney! Each pose is timed\, and we may suggest different drawing techniques to inspire and warm up your artistic flow. \nWhat You’ll Need: \n\nDrawing Surface: Get creative—paper\, an iPad\, or cardboard boxes!\nDrawing Materials: Anything goes—pencils\, charcoal\, pastels\, or paints. It’s a perfect opportunity to experiment and try something new!\n\nPose breakdown will be 4 x 5 minutes\, 2 x 10 minutes\, 3 x 15 minutes\, and 1 x 20 minutes (as time allows). \nCome along\, settle in and drawing starts just after 5.30pm. \nPlease bring your own materials (Although we generally have a few pads and pencils on hand in case!). All skill levels\, genders and orientations are welcome. \nImportant: Recording of the session is not permitted. \nAs with all our sessions\, Nudity is not part of this workshop. It is up to the model’s comfort level when posing how much or little clothing they will wear and being mindful of other patrons in the space\, as it will not be private. \nOur main priority is to create a safe environment for the talent. \nThat said\, sometimes sessions do veer towards the erotic/kink based on the model.
