DESCRIPTION:A peer support space to tackle the sometimes stressful work of name changes\, medical appointments\, passport applications and more admin.\n\n\nDo you have admin that you need to do around your transition? Would you like some support? Perhaps you want to legally change your name or your bank details? \nThese Trans Admin Group support sessions are a space where you can come to with any trans admin that you’re needing to do: \nSometimes we just need some encouragement from others\, or not to be alone with this. Other times we might have very specific questions or need support with an admin task. Or someone who signs our deed poll\, proof reads an email\, helps us to write a complaint. \nWhatever you are bringing to the sessions\, chances are that someone else has experience with this or tips for you. \nAbout the organiser \nKai is a London based psychologist and dramatherapist\, and a doctoral researcher at the University of Sussex. He works therapeutically with individuals in private practice\, specialising in the treatment of trauma\, shame\, and stigma. \nKai is passionate about community building and works with groups and organisations to facilitate collective empowerment for survivors of sexual violence\, queer and trans people\, and other marginalised groups. DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. SUMMARY:Queer Walking Group: Alfriston
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special excursion to Alfriston under our monthly Queer Walking Group programme.\n\n\nJoin us for an unforgettable day at Alfriston in a beautiful part East Sussex. \nOur Queer Walking Group welcomes all LGBTQ+ individuals for a day of scenic hiking\, community bonding\, and fun activities. \nWe’ll kick off the day with a comfortable private coach ride from the Centre’s doorstep to Alfriston\, where we’ll meet the facilitators for the day before the walk. \nYou will be able to explore the beautiful scenery\, make new friends and strengthen existing connections with LGBTQ+ folks through engaging group activities. \nLight snacks and beverages will be provided\, and you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch. \nTo ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience\, please bring comfortable walking shoes\, weather-appropriate clothing\, and a personal water bottle. \nSpaces are limited\, so early booking is advised. If you’re unable to attend please let us know as soon as possible\, so we can open up tickets to community members on the waiting list. \nSchedule (please note that these estimated times): \n \n\n9:30am – arrive at the Centre\n10am – journey from the Centre to The Willows on private coach\n12:30pm – arrival at The Willows; group to meet walk leader at the car park\n1-3:30pm – walking group activity lead by walk leader and co-lead\n4pm – journey back from The Willows to London LGBTQ+ Community Centre\n6pm – estimated arrival time in London\n\nIf you have any concerns/questions on the day\, please refer to any of our team members who will be wearing name and pronouns badges. \nAccessibility \nThe walk is 7 miles long on a stunning scenic route. There will be stops along the way and the walk can be cut shorter if needed or due to the weather. \nFolks will meet the walk facilitator\, Annie\, on the edge of Alfriston where there are toilets nearby after the bus journey.  \nWe’ll have a picnic time beside the river before heading off. There’s one climb uphill near the start of the walk. The rest of the walk is pretty level or going gradually downhill.  \nThe tracks are stony or grassy\, so please wear walking boots or trainers. \nThe ground is still wet in places\, but the winter mud is drying up. SUMMARY:Bi Contagion: Political Action Teach-in
DESCRIPTION:Prishita Maheshwari-Aplin (they/them) is hosting a teach-in to explore the histories of bi+ figures June Jordan and Brenda Howard.\n\n\nThere is a long history of coalition-building within bi+ activism and lessons we can learn from figures like June Jordan and Brenda Howard. \nExploring the histories of these figures\, Prishita Maheshwari-Aplin (they/them) is hosting a teach-in to discover their lives in terms of developing a bi-political praxis. \nIn this session\, we’ll particularly look at the ways their work can inspire solidarity between queer and disability justice in light of PIP cuts in the UK. \nThe session will be led by Prishita followed by a sharing circle facilitated by Megan Wallace (they/them). In this part of the session\, we’ll explore our thoughts\, feelings and potential action. \nBi\, fluid and pan people are welcome as well as the wider queer community and their allies are encouraged to come and mark Bi Health Month. \nThere is a reading list for the event\, which will be part of a wider library of bi+ reading. \nThis is one event in a series\, Bi Contagion\, which explores bi+ culture\, history and more in an effort to understand and celebrate our roots and realities as the largest group under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. \nAbout the facilitators \nPrishita Maheshwari-Aplin (they/them) is a queer community organiser\, a campaigner for Greenpeace UK and the author of Roses for Hedone: On Queer Hedonism and World-Making Through Pleasure\, which is published in May 2025. \nAs a journalist\, they have contributed to the likes of Gay Times\, gal-dem\, METAL and Dazed. DESCRIPTION:Arts and crafts\, games\, music\, and more in a space with FFP2/3 masks.\n\n\nGovernments and the public have decided to abandon infection control and endanger those around them\, putting already-marginalised communities at risk of Long COVID\, social isolation\, and death. \nWe want to create spaces for people to socialise\, find community\, and have fun without putting themselves or others at risk of damage to their immune\, cardiovascular\, or nervous systems. \nFFP2/3 masks and proof of a negative test are required on the door (and provided)\, and HEPA air purifiers will be running at all times. \nWe are specifically welcoming: \n\nDisabled people (4x higher COVID mortality rate)\nPeople of colour (32% long COVID rate)\nWomen (36% long COVID rate)\nTrans people (48% long COVID rate)\nNeurodivergent people (30% long COVID rate)\nPeople with HIV (58% long COVID rate)\n\nor anyone else at increased risk (or those who don’t want to spread such a disease to the greater London community). \nCovid safety at the event \nAttendees will be greeted and asked to provide proof of a negative COVID test in the last 24 hours. \nIf attendees don’t have the opportunity to take one beforehand\, they will be provided and asked to take them outside. \nAfter confirming negative tests\, attendees will be provided an FFP2 mask (if they do not have their own) and invited to socialise with other attendees at various activity tables (board games\, arts and crafts\, conversation prompts\, etc). \nAttendees are welcome to ask organisers for an introduction to any table to break the ice. \nAfter 20-30 minutes\, we will invite guests to switch to a different activity or take a break if they wish\, though this will not be required. \nStanding will not be required for any portion of this event. \nFor everyone’s safety\, please do not attend the event if you are unwell or have any unusual symptoms\, especially signs or symptoms of respiratory illness such as a sore throat\, cough\, runny nose\, fever\, etc. We can provide a refund on your donation at any time in the lead up to the event. \nIf you have any access needs (e.g. BSL interpreter\, lip reading masks\, etc)\, please email hello@londonlgbtqcentre.org. \nAbout the organisers \nA group of six immunocompromised / COVID-conscious Londoners organising monthly events for members of our community to safely socialise. \nSupport their GoFundMe to help make more events happen! \nAccessibility \nOur full accessibility statement is here. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. DESCRIPTION:Organised by Trans Action for Housing Justice\, hear more from inspirational speakers and learn about plans to win change for the community.\n\n\nOn Saturday 22 March\, we will collectively remember what it means to fight for change and win. \nTrans+ people disproportionately face homelessness. 25% of trans people reportedly experience homelessness\, compared to just 0.5% of the British population. We face discrimination and violence in shelters and services when we are able to access them. This is all in the context of a wider housing crisis. \nHear from inspirational speakers and learn about our plan to win material change for our community. \nWe have free hot food\, art making and solidarity. People are not required to stand for any of the exercises\, but may do so for the Play portion which will be 20 minutes. DESCRIPTION:A space for LGBTQ+ freelancers\, students and work-from-homers\n\n\nJoin us for coffee\, a desk and queer business! \nEvery Wednesday the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre opens its space for freelancers\, students and anyone that work remotely. \nAt 1pm we’ll have a social lunch hour so we can have an arranged time to break for lunch and have a chat. It can be tricky to fit in a proper lunch break and we are hoping this will help. \nIf you don’t want to join\, that’s okay! It’ll just be an hour with slightly more chatting and background noise\, no pressure at all.
