A Natural England study found that White people are 70% more likely than Black and Asian people to spend time in the countryside. We want to change this. DESCRIPTION:A drop-in workshop for LGBTQ+ people. No experience necessary!\n\n\nA drop-in workshop for LGBTQ+ people of any experience level. Improv is all about collaboration and saying yes to people’s ideas. Follow your spontaneity\, trust your gut and you’ll be surprised at what worlds you can create. \nImprov is not just about being funny; improv is an amazing way to help people dealing with social anxiety or for people that want some practice feeling a little more free in their public speaking. \nThis is a low-stakes workshop where we can share some laughs and maybe even make some new friends. Through games and exercises we’ll create stories\, characters and learn the fundamentals of improvisation. \nNote: Please ensure that you arrive on time for this workshop. We will cover our code of conduct and accessibility in the first five minutes. \nUnfortunately we aren’t able to permit anyone who arrives late as it’s mandatory to take part in the first part of the session. \nPlease get in touch with us if you know you’ll be running late and we will try to accommodate where we can! \nAbout the facilitator \nSam Roulston (he/him) is an award winning Comedian and Writer based in London. \nHe recently returned to the UK after living in Toronto for several years where he worked as a comedian and member of faculty at the Second City comedy theatre. DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. We will draw on neuroscience and a range of wellbeing practices including meditation\, dance\, journalling\, nature work\, breathing\, drawing\, gentle movement\, and community. \nThese workshops are an LGBTQ+ space where stories\, wisdom\, and kindness are celebrated. Recognising that each of you will bring your own self-knowledge and curiosity to the topic of self-care and wellbeing. \nAfter the workshops you will have the techniques and resources to shape your own self-care toolkit. As well as the opportunity to make connections and learn from each from each other. \nPart one is happening throughout October and November 2024 (so you can pick a date that works for you) and part two is happening throughout January 2025. \nAbout the facilitator: \nSal (they/them) has been working in People Development for over 10 years with a focus on wellbeing\, inclusion\, and authenticity. Sal uses positive psychology and a facilitative approach to create spaces for people to explore what wellbeing and empowered self-care feels like for them. \nSal holds a MSc in People Development from Birkbeck\, University of London. They combine their decade of practical experience with research and working internationally to ensure the advice they give is robust and anchored in best practice. With a focus on curiosity and kindness Sal leads workshops in a supportive and joyful way.
