SUMMARY:Dope Black Queers: The Forum
DESCRIPTION:Dope Black Queers is a space for and by the Black LGBTQIA+ community to provide grounding\, connection\, and  feel seen and heard. \nThe Forum follows a Town Hall Meeting format\, less like a panel\, but more of an open floor discussion. \nThis is an event where we can really talk about the things that matter to us\, to raise questions and find answers both for ourselves and for others. \nOur specific life experiences give each of us different perspectives\, and that is what we want everyone to come and share\, because it is in the specifics that we can relate and build community. \nWhilst participation is encouraged\, no one has to share if they don’t want to. \nBut the more interaction\, the more there is to learn. \nCome meet new people\, build a community\, and share your perspective. \nThis event is exclusively for the Black LGBTQIA+ community! (Allies are welcome to donate to help continue our work.) \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid symptoms including a headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough or chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

SUMMARY:Queer Minds Movement Sessions: Complete Beginners Salsa
DESCRIPTION:Queer Minds hosts monthly movement sessions on the 3rd Monday of every month from 6-8pm at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre. We’re excited to be collaborating with Queer Salsa for our next three sessions – Complete Beginners Salsa! \nYou are welcome to sign up to one\, two\, or all three sessions: \n\nMonday 15 June 2026\nMonday 20 July 2026\nMonday 17 August 2026\n\nIn these sessions\, participants will learn the foundations of Salsa: \n\nThe basic rhythm and timing\nFootwork including the basic step\, side steps\, a turn\, and some styling to bring your own personality to the dance\nWe’ll then bring this into partnerwork\, explaining leading and following so everyone can try one role for the session\nWe’ll close each session with some Salsa songs so everyone can dance with each other and the teachers and put what they’ve learned into practice\n\nQueer Salsa places particular emphasis on building genuine connection between dance partners and on dancing consensually with another person\, which can be a really special experience for people who’ve never done partner dance before. Everyone will rotate partners throughout the class as we learn a short routine together. No dance partner is needed – people are very welcome to come alone and will likely meet many new people! \nPlease wear clothes you can comfortable move in and bring some water. If you have any access needs\, health conditions or injuries\, please let us know on the registration form and/or let the facilitators know before the workshop starts. \nAbout the facilitator  \nQueer Salsa is a queer-led collective that brings people together to share\, learn and enjoy Afro-Latin dance. For us\, queer joy on the dance floor means honouring Salsa as a living\, liberatory practice rooted in Afro-Latin resistance\, creativity and collective strength. We believe partner dance is a powerful way to build community by teaching us to listen and care for one another as we move together. \nImportant information about our free events/cancellations! 🌟🌟🌟 \n\nQueer Minds events are by and for LGBTQIA+ people (aged 18+)\nSpaces are limited\, so please only reserve a spot if you can definitely make it and cancel your ticket at least 48 hours ahead of time if you can no longer attend. Failing to show up without prior cancellation takes a spot from someone else – please be considerate of those on the waitlist who wish to join us!\n\nAccessibility at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough and chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. SUMMARY:Southwark Pride Walking History Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Catherine Hahn on this Pride walk through the diverse\, working class\, queer history of Southwark.\n\n\nJoin Dr Catherine Hahn on a walk during Pride to explore the working class queer history of Southwark. \nThrough places\, stories and imagery\, we will celebrate the rich tapestry of queer history in the area\, including people whose actions changed society. Walking in their footsteps we will feel the significance of their legacy. \nThe tour presents queer history as a place of possibility\, challenging sensationalist Victorian accounts of poverty and crime that served as cultural erasure. Walking it together\, we will value its recovery. The tour takes three hours with stopping points. \nWe will share more details about the walk\, including any access information\, to ticket holders before the date. \nThe tour offers plenty of time to chat and mingle with other folks joining. Please bring enough water with you! \nAbout the facilitator \nDr Catherine Hahn (she/her) is an artist and social researcher and has taught extensively in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths and Art History at the University of Kent. Catherine has facilitated collaborative art workshops for many years. \nShe draws on her personal experience and research on queer South London for the tour. \nAccessibility \nThe walk will take three hours. On the walk we will go at a pace that would be considered comfortable for most people\, where we will stop regularly. \nThere will be times when we may stand and talk and chairs won’t be available. \nThe information shown on the walk will almost all be visual\, and verbal descriptions will also be offered. \nThere will be extensive time to socialise and mingle and we will introduce ourselves to each other at the start. I will also ask questions as prompts\, to support people interacting together. \nCovid-19 safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough\, and chills. \nFor current information on Covid please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.

SUMMARY:Queer Platonic Coparenting Meetup: Games and Craft Session

Hanna will be running a games and craft session as a way to talk about and explore queer experiences of family and important relationships. \nWe’ll play the card game ‘Happy Families’ together and discuss what it tells us about ‘families’. We will then create our own sets of cards using arts and crafts materials to depict our significant relationships. These can be as abstract as you like\, no artistic ability required – promise! \nAnyone who is 18+\, identifies as LGBTQ+\, lives in England/Scotland/Wales\, and has considered parenting beyond a romantic couple within the past 15 years (this could be as a platonic coparent\, or as a single parent or multiparent family including one or more romantic relationships). \nHow will this be used in research? \nHanna is researching how social policies effect LGBTQ+ families in Britain\, in particular those parenting beyond the romantic couple. She is interested in the ways that queer people define and understand family\, and how this may differ to policy definitions. \nThe group discussion will be recorded. During the craft session\, Hanna will ask you some questions about who the important people are in your life\, and your own definitions of those relationships. These conversations will also be recorded. A photograph will be taken of the cards that you create. \nWhen you sign up\, a full information sheet will be sent to you which also outlines in more detail how your data will be used. You will be able to withdraw at any time before\, during\, and up to two weeks after the session. You can also find out more about the project here. \nAccessibility at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nThe Centre’s accessibility statement is here. \nCovid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nTo keep our community safe\, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache\, fever\, sore throat\, consistent cough or chills. \nYou can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre. \nFor current information on Covid please visit the NHS website. \nDonate to the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre \nWe rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come. \nTo donate or become a Friend of the Centre\, visit our website.
