SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Community Meditation
DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Unpaid Carers Peer Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Meet other unpaid carers and chat in a relaxed and informal setting.\n\n\nThis group is chance to meet other unpaid LGBTQ+ carers\, and chat in a relaxed and informal setting. \nMeetings are on the second Saturday of each month from 3-5pm. \nWhat you can expect: \nThese meetups involve group socialising for two hours\, but you are welcome to take a break whenever needed. We will usually be sitting on chairs around a table\, but can sometimes be a little loud if there are other groups there. \nWe will usually be sitting on chairs around a table\, but can move to the sofa area if it’s free and it suits our access needs better. \nIf there are a lot of us\, we might split into two smaller groups to chat. Unfortunately the group can’t provide a BSL interpreter. \nThis is not a masked event\, but wearing a respirator mask is recommended as it will protect both us and the people we care for. DESCRIPTION:A theatre group for marginalised people.\n\n\nWe meet every first Sunday of the month to explore different methods of performance. We usually start with some warm up games before then either devising some short scenes\, reading some scripts\, play with moving our bodies or whatever other creative activities take our fancy! \nWe are an informal group aimed at having fun and creating community and space for everyone to feel safe and be free to explore their selves through drama and performance. \nThe workshops are run by Beckah from the London Intersectional Arts Collective. They are trans/genderqueer and disabled and their aim is to make these workshops accessible for all. \nWe welcome everybody regardless of orientation\, gender\, age\, race\, ethnicity – all we require is an open mind\, a desire to try\, respect for pronouns and a wish to perform! Doesn’t matter if you are a newbie or pro\, just wear some comfy clothes and come along. \nAbout the organiser: \nBeckah (they/them) is a theatre maker/facilitator and genderqueer person. DESCRIPTION:A Drag King/Thing Life Drawing Workshop for artists to experience drag in a new way and drag artists to gain a new skill in life modelling.\n\n\nJoin us for an exciting life drawing workshop dedicated to providing a platform for Drag Kings/Things to model and offering artists a unique experience in capturing the essence of drag through art. \nOur inclusive sessions cater to all skill levels\, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned artist like the next David Hockney! Each pose is timed\, and we may suggest different drawing techniques to inspire and warm up your artistic flow. \nWhat You’ll Need: \n\nDrawing Surface: Get creative—paper\, an iPad\, or cardboard boxes!\nDrawing Materials: Anything goes—pencils\, charcoal\, pastels\, or paints. It’s a perfect opportunity to experiment and try something new!\n\nPose breakdown will be 4 x 5 minutes\, 2 x 10 minutes\, 3 x 15 minutes\, and 1 x 20 minutes (as time allows). \nCome along\, settle in and drawing starts just after 3.30pm. \nPlease bring your own materials (Although we generally have a few pads and pencils on hand in case!). All skill levels\, genders and orientations are welcome. \nImportant: Recording of the session is not permitted. \nAs with all our sessions\, Nudity is not part of this workshop. It is up to the model’s comfort level when posing how much or little clothing they will wear and being mindful of other patrons in the space\, as it will not be private. \nOur main priority is to create a safe environment for the talent. \nThat said\, sometimes sessions do veer towards the erotic/kink based on the model. DESCRIPTION:This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.\n\n\nThe sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness\, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing and connecting\, poetry and more. Through this\, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after. \nNo prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment. \nSessions are free\, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. DESCRIPTION:By exploring yourself through breath you’ll learn the tools which are useful every day if you find yourself in a stressful situation.\n\n\nWe start of by shaking off our body’s to lose tension\, once we’ve done a quick shake we settle down in a sacred circle\, checking the way we breathe without controlling our breath.
