The Werkroom: Creative Writing Workshop with Nkenna Akunna (Dope Black Queers)
Join Dope Black Queers for The Werkroom, a series of workshops facilitated by a member of the community who’ll lead you in nurturing your skills and talents.
Dope Black Queers is an space for and by the Black LGBTQIA+ community, to provide grounding, connection, and to feel seen & heard.
The Werkroom is a series of workshop in collaboration with a guest facilitator who will lead us in the exploration of our skills and talents.
Come meet new people, build a community, and dedicate yourself to nurturing you. We are incredibly excited to welcome Nkenna Akunna to lead us in a Creative Writing workshop, exploring Grief and Mourning Tradition.
Nkenna Akunna (she/they) is an Igbo playwright, performer and lecturer from London whose work primarily explores friendship, time, labour, and power. Her debut play cheeky little brown opened at Bristol Old Vic to critical acclaim. They are also Editor at Large at Skin Deep Media, a collective that makes space for Black creatives and creatives of colour through cultural production.
This event is exclusively for the Black LGBTQIA+ community! (Allies are welcome to donate to help continue our work.)

Covid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre
To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling unwell including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.
You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
