Intro to LGBTQ+ Fostering Drop-in

Hosted by fostering agency, Banya, this session will introduce information and skills to foster for any LGBTQ+ people looking to build their families.
We’ll share stories on LGBTQ+ fostering, what support is offered to LGBTQ+ carers, how we can support LGBTQ+ youth and answer any questions you might have on this journey.
This is a drop-in session where folks can join any time between 1:30 and 3:30pm.
About the facilitator
Chido Poe (she/her) is a social worker, workshop leader and Managing Director for Banya, with 14 years of experience in social care. Her master’s in social work focussed on social justice and promoting young people’s right to a decent life.
Banya is an independent fostering agency, empowering young people since 1997. Run by women of colour, Banya aspires to uplift underrepresented voices from different communities and share the message that a loving and stable family can take many forms.
Banya was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2024 and is a two-time winner at the Best Businesswomen Awards 2024.

Covid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre
To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.
You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
