Peer Support Group for Adenomyosis, Endometriosis and/or PCOS
September 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeAn online peer support group for LGBTQ+ people to discuss their lived experiences of adenomyosis, endometriosis and/or polycystic ovary syndrome.
The session will start with a check-in followed by a facilitated open space to share experiences, listen and discuss in solidarity with peers before closing with a check-out.
Group agreement:
- Confidentiality – what is said in the group, stays in the group
- No formal diagnosis needed – the group is inclusive of those undergoing investigations and/or awaiting diagnosis
- No judgement in terms of how others navigate treatment, management and employment
- Trans-inclusive healthcare is at the heart of the group’s ethos – being mindful that adenomyosis, endo and PCOS do not exclusively affect cis women
- Being understanding of period poverty and how income affects access to menstrual products, means of pain management and treatment
- No fatphobic language and/or discussion of numbers relating to weight (BMI, calories, body weight etc.)
- Members are welcome to use hot water bottles, heat packs, TENS machines etc on the call – there’s no need to hide them!
Disclaimer:
The group is not a substitute for medical care, psychological therapy or counselling. If you need medical advice, contact your GP or specialist.
Although the group agreement exists to create a safer and inclusive space, topics may arise which are challenging for some to navigate.
Group members are always welcome to take a break/breather if and when they feel the need.
It is imperative that individuals take personal responsibility for what they are comfortable sharing in a group setting as well as having coping strategies in place.
The facilitator can signpost to further support and/or resources during the checkout but cannot provide support outside of the space.
