Queer Dominican Bachata Workshop

Come discover the roots of Bachata with Sanura Dance in our 2-hour Dominican Bachata workshop!

Led by our teacher, who’s half Spanish and half Dominican, this session dives intothe authentic style born in the Dominican Republic — the birthplace of all Bachata styles we know today. Dominican Bachata is all about intricate footwork, playful rhythm changes, and vibrant musical connection that reflect the music’s lively spirit and cultural heritage.

At Sanura, Everyone Leads, Everyone Follows, so you’ll get a chance to learn both roles and truly connect with the dance. Perfect for all levels. No partner needed. Let’s explore the origins and joy of Dominican Bachata together.

About the facilitator

Sanura Dance is a FLINTA-focused, feminist, and LGBTQ+ dance collective that’s been fostering a safe, inclusive space for over 2.5 years.

At Sanura, Everyone Leads, Everyone Follows – it’s our signature approach to empower dancers of all identities and break away from traditional gender roles on the dance floor.

We don’t just dance – we’re friends, we’re community, we’re a support system. Come experience the rhythm, laughter, and warmth that make Sanura Dance so special.

Covid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre

To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors to not visit the Centre if they’re feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.

You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
