Winter Wellbeing Workshop
November 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We know that the winter months can have an impact on people’s wellbeing for multiple reasons, and that it can be a tricky time for many people. Given that this can be an isolating experience, we feel that it may be useful to meet as a group to share and develop skills and strategies to better support ourselves and each other through this time.
Ashley and Navya will facilitate an 8-week workshop grounded in ideas and techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy practices. These sessions will focus primarily on developing awareness and understanding of emotional experiences, as well as participating in experiential exercises to develop soothing skills.
It is essential that participants commit to the 8-week programme to get the most out of the workshops, as there will be a gradual development of ideas and skills over time.
Consistent attendance is also important for building group safeness and relational trust.
This is not intended to be a therapy group: rather than in-depth exploration of personal experiences, these sessions will focus on skills development and coping strategies.
It is understandable that speaking about wellbeing may prompt participants to consider further support to address any difficulties. In such instances, Ashley and Navya are able to signpost to relevant services.
About the facilitators
Dr Ashley Peart (he/him) is a Black queer man and Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of experience in the NHS, education and voluntary sectors. He is passionate about increasing access to mental health services and the clinical psychology profession, and supporting young people and adult’s mental health through a holistic, creative, and strengths-based approach.
Dr Navya Anand (she/her) is queer Indian cisgendered woman and Clinical Psychologist, working in Children’s Social Care, Academic, and Private Practice settings.
She hopes to incorporate compassion-based practices across different levels of service provision, and to embody values of social justice in her work.
Accessibility
We hope to make this group accessible to a wider range of people in the community, and as such will be providing the workshops online in the evenings on Mondays. Closed captions will be available, and we welcome conversations about how to ensure the space is accessible to all participants.
