The Outside Project

The Outside Project is an independent, grassroots LGBTIQ+ community shelter & centre led by LGBTQ+ activists, friends and colleagues who work in the homelessness sector and understand the unique issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Their project launched last year, and they fundraised enough money to buy a 12-bed bus which they transformed into a professional shelter for LGBTQ+ homeless people mover the winter.

This year, they have partnered with Stonewall Housing and been granted funding from Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s Rough Sleeping Innovation Fund to develop the project into a 24/7, building based service.

Brilliantly, The Outside Project have now announced that they are opening their doors on Christmas Eve this year, and will be hosting a Christmas Meal on Christmas Day.
