WHO AM I

How can I say it ?
What I feel isnt accepted,
how will they take it, disgusted, dissapointed,
What I feel is wrong
The books say it, the collared man preaches but what I feel contradicts this.
My lover my lover hold me behind a screen you dont approve of our love its not a decision as it seems.
Wrong DNA they say or a choice that ive made, take me to the lab and then
all will be okay.
Her eyes and her smile en captured in the light forces my passive heart to fill with excite.
Look away just a phase a figmentation of the mind,
a corrupting trespasser locked inside.
So this is how its meant to be,
live life sin free, so sin is love and love is wrong, thats what your words mean to me,
but wasn’t love the key to the message brought down to earth
contradictory it would seem but power still corrups.
Broken up segments dont conform disgarded,
fit into a normal group or lifes a battle of hardship. Shaped by ideology but not me im sorry,
break me free of these chains, fill me with the power to be brave,
so i can run away with my lover and get lost in her gaze.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am an 18 year old spoken word artist and video producer from south London. I am passionate about using music and words to create change and promote love and positivity. I am an all round creative as I also play multiple instruments, set up and host events, as well as doing radio presenting. This spoken word piece sheds light on my struggle with homophobia, including being attacked, which has made it hard for me to fully be open with my sexuality, but it also shows that I have finally reached a point where I am confident and comfortable with who I am. The future is bright and I appreciate any support for the grind.
