Update: The Centre is reopening on Saturday 4 October. We are closed for walk-ins this weekend. Please only visit if you’ve booked a ticket for an event.
We’re back – and with a Changing Places Toilet!
Here’s what you need to know about our reopening.
When will the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre reopen?
We are open to the public on Sunday 28 September from 1pm with a Fill-a-Bag Clothes Sale.
Before this, you can join a Community Meditation session from 12-1pm (the Centre is closed during this).
Can you accept donations for the Fill-a-Bag Clothes Sale before Sunday 28 September?
Unfortunately we’re unable to take any donations before the sale as the Centre will be closed to the public.
Why were you closed?
We’ve spent the last several years trying to secure funding to rebuild our toilet facilities.
Thanks to the funds we received from Southwark Council, B&Q and Screwfix, we were able to make this happen! As ever, a huge thank you to all the wonderful folks who donated and supported this work.
We’ll share more about the Changing Places Toilet as we settle back in.
Will any events happen before Sunday 28 September at the Centre?
Two events will take place at the Centre before we reopen to the public.
- Queer Dungeons and Dragons – Thursday 25 September at 6-8pm
- DIY Strap Making Workshop – Saturday 27 September at 1-5pm
Both these events require tickets to attend and we won’t be open for walk-ins during them. You can book your place at the links above.
Please note we’re currently experiencing an issue with our calendar plugin not showing events for the next few weeks. If you’d like to see what’s coming up in October, check out our Eventbrite page.
Will any events happen outside the Centre before Sunday 28 September?
Two events will take place at other locations.
- NA – Wednesday 24 September, 7-8pm at The Outside Project
- 50+ Friday Social – Friday 26 September, 1-3pm at Old Compton St
If you have any questions about either of these groups, please reach out to the facilitators directly.
Will you return to posting on social media?
During our closure period, our comms team, Cherokee and Vivika, spent time working on other projects like our brand new website! (More info on this to come.)
There’s still work to be done, and as a part-time team we have limited capacity. We’re exploring whether we’ll extend our social media break after reopening. We’ll keep you updated.
Can I book tickets for events?
We’re experiencing a tech issue with our website calendar plugin, which isn’t showing events from October onwards. (We are on the case with figuring out a fix!)
In the meantime, see what’s coming up via Eventbrite.
