Research and Peckham Festival

A New Queer London Research Study

Back in 2018, we ran a research project looking into the need for the LGBTQ+ community centre, asking community leaders, community members, groups and charities to take part. This included questions on the services you’d like to see provided, even what you would want the space to look like.

As we begin to recover from the pandemic, it’s essential that we take stock. We must check in with the community and find out if our initial research still stands, or if you need more physical, more digital, more – or less – of anything, to make the most of the space.
The Centre will be a place to heal, to connect, to renew. We will be what you make us – for the community, by the community.

Will you take part in the survey?

Peckham Festival

We’re going to be at Peckham Festival on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September.
We’ll be bringing you:

  • Performances
  • Panel talks
  • Sexual health testing
  • Film screenings
  • Information and signposting
  • Glitter (eco-friendly, of course)
  • The opportunity to take part in an in-person focus group for our research study.

And there’s an amazing programme of other events happening throughout the weekend too.

Peckham Festival is free to attend with no tickets required.

Our focus groups are 12-1 on both Saturday and Sunday and require registration for both. Please click the button below to register to attend.

Finance expert? Join us

Our project won’t be able to take off the ground without money, and with that, we need experts in finance, fundraising, income and business development.

If this is you, could you help us make the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre a reality?

Could you reach out to your contacts in these disciplines to ask if they could lend us a hand?

More details about the role

Anyone joining would be instrumental in helping us secure an exciting opportunity to open a pop-up centre in central London, as well as planning more research to understand how our communities’ needs have changed since Covid-19, so our Centre can reflect them.

To express interest, email [email protected] with a CV and any relevant details and we’ll arrange a chat to tell you more.

Become a Friend of the Centre

Covid-19 hit everyone hard, but it had a disproportionate impact on LGBTQ+ communities. It’s never been more vital to create a Community Centre where queer Londoners can meet, build connections, and find services tailored to their needs.

You can help us make this happen by becoming a Friend of the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre. Your money will go towards finding a space for the centre, fitting it out, and covering ongoing costs.

We’ll be in touch soon with some incredibly exciting news. But until then, stay safe and hope to see you at Peckham Festival

In solidarity,
