Apply: Scholarship for QTIPOC yoga teacher training or Level 2 Gym Instructor Course

  • Roles

With funding from the London Marathon Foundation, we are launching a Scholarship Programme to fund two queer, trans and/or intersex people of colour (QTIPOC) looking to undertake either yoga teacher training or a Level 2 Gym Instructor Course.

About the Scholarship

Each year, during two consecutive years 2025-26 and 2026-27, two QTIPOC folks will receive a £3,000 scholarship each to:

  • Enrol on a yoga teacher training or Level 2 Gym Instructor Course
  • Buy books and any other materials needed for the duration of the training
  • Join a mentoring programme. They will be paired with one of our regular facilitators at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre to shadow them during their sessions at the Centre and meet quarterly

Year 1 of the Scholarship Programme will commence in November 2025.

Scholars’ commitment

Scholars will commit to supporting the delivery of one weekly session as part of the scholarship and will have opportunities to be paid as a group class facilitator upon completion.

Once the scholarship is over, the two scholars will be offered the opportunity to run regular sessions at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre to kick start their teaching careers.

Who is the Scholarship for?

This Programme has been created for queer, trans and intersex people of colour (QTIPOC), aiming at increasing access and diversity in the sports fields.

Scholarships will be prioritised for low-income/unemployed QTIPOC with no previous qualifications.

By giving scholars the opportunity to shadow facilitators and eventually run sessions at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre, we aim to give scholars access to a safer, inclusive space, free of judgement, where they can learn and grow confidently.

Only London-based applications will be considered as this is an in-person opportunity with a part of it taking place at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre.
