This summer we are giving the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre a new look and we are searching for an artist to take part.
Along with the accessible toilet works taking place in August 2025, we want to commission an artist to make an artwork for the pink panel decorating our entrance opposite the Thames and Blackfriars Station.

The winner will receive a small grant of £1,200 that will cover:
- £950 artist fee
- £150 for materials
- £100 for any time spent on admin and comms
The funds to cover the costs behind this award were raised during Big Give’s Small Charity Week in June.
The winner will commit to:
- Communicate swiftly with the Centre team during the lead-up to August (for example, when you plan to install the artwork or paint)
- Complete the artwork during the month of August when the Centre is closed
- Create social media content to promote their work and the Centre on social media
The process:
- Submit a rough concept drawing or sketch of your proposed artwork to this form by Sunday 27 July at 5pm
- The team at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre – which includes artists and art workers like multimedia artist and painter Izzy MacCallum, art practitioner Jesualdo Lopes and sculptor Bisila Noha – will shortlist five artists.
- We will open the vote to the wider community, so the public will choose the winner out of the five shortlisted artworks by the Centre team.
Prompts:
- What makes the Centre feel like home?
- What does queer community look like to you?
- What does the Centre mean to you?
- What does queer joy look like to you, and how does the Centre help make that joy possible?
How to apply:
- Please submit a drawing or sketch of your proposed artwork to this form by 5pm on Sunday 27 July July
- Please submit previous artwork examples (murals, paintings, etc.) alongside your concept
- Please include some storytelling sharing with us the piece’s meaning and its connection to our space and mission as an organisation (max 200 word count)
- The measurements of the panels are L: 349 cm x W: 114 cm
- If you’d like to visit the Centre to view the decal, let us know!
